Chelmos-Vouraikos Geopark with the Management Body of Chelmos - Vouraikos successfully participated in the web meeting organized by the UNESCO Global Geoparks of Greece and Cyprus on Wednesday, November 11th, 2020. The title of the meeting was "Facing Modern Challenges”.

The web meeting of the UNESCO Global Geoparks of Greece and Cyprus was a co-organization of the Greek National Commission for UNESCO, the Hellenic Geoparks Forum and the UNESCO Headquarters for Geoparks and the Sustainable Development of Island and Coastal Areas, University of the Aegean.

The main goal of the web meeting was to present the actions developed by the UNESCO Global Geoparks of Greece and Cyprus during the difficult period of the pandemic. Also, during the meeting, information was provided about candidate areas of Greece in the UNESCO Global Geoparks.

It is notable that the Management Body of Chelmos-Vouraikos, through the official representatives of the Chelmos-Vouraikos Global Geopark, Dr. G. Iliopoulos Assoc. Professor of the Department of Geology of the University of Patras and scientific advisor of the Geopark and Mrs. E. Koumoutsou, Project Coordinator-Environmentalist of the Management Body, participates in all the meetings of the UNESCO Global Geoparks, in a continuous and long-term effort of the Management Body to contribute to the promotion of alternative tourism, environmental education, environmental protection and promotion in the National Park area, with multiple benefits for the local community.
