The natural vegetation of the area is the result of the interaction of various parameters and mainly of flora, bioclimatic conditions, Orographic configuration, petrological-geological composition of soil and human activities that have been and continue to be applied during the historical development of the area by the past to this day.

The natural ecosystems of the area include mainly forests (Pinus halepensis forests, Pinus nigra forests, Quercus pubescens and Quercus frainetto forests, Abies cephalonica forests), ecosystems of low and high scrub (evergreen sclerophyll formations, phrygana), ecosystems of chasmophytic vegetation and riparian ecosystems.
