What is the Geopark

A Geopark is an area with clearly defined boundaries and a remarkable geological heritage promoting its protection and pursuing sustainable development strategies (ie economic development that is designed and implemented taking into account environmental protection and sustainability), and also promoting economic prosperity of local people. A Geopark aims to prove that it is a geological heritage of great importance at a global level and at the same time aims to investigate, to develop and demonstrate the relationship between geological heritage and all other aspects of the natural and cultural heritage of the region.
